Come along for this enjoyable hands-on workshop to master the skills of creating and applying handmade piping cut on the bias and inserting a zip fastening. If time allows there will also be an opportunity to make an envelope-style cushion cover.

Piping is a wonderfully versatile sewing technique that instantly elevates both home décor and dressmaking projects. Whether you are completely new to sewing or looking to build confidence with more refined finishing techniques, this workshop will guide you through each stage in a friendly and supportive environment.

What you’ll learn:

• How to cut piping on the bias and apply to the cushion cover
• Inserting a zip
• Techniques for achieving neat, professional finishes
• Constructing a piped cushion cover from start to finish
• Optional envelope cushion construction techniques
• Making a button hole

Is this class for you? Suitable for confident beginners as well as those with more experience who would like to improve their finishing techniques.

Materials:

• To make to make a 45cm / 18” square cushion cover, piped in the same fabric you will need approximately 1m of medium weight woven fabric suitable for soft furnishings, 
• To make to make a 45cm / 18” square cushion cover with contrasting piping you will need 75cm of each fabric.

You are very welcome to bring fabric from your own stash, or choose from our lovely selection in store on the day. (Arrive early to leave time.)
