About DMK

The DMK line of saddles are a mid-range, semi-customizable, fixed-seat-and-flap saddle handmade by skilled crafts-men and -women from WOW in the UK. This means that the flaps are installed and fixed permanently to the seat/tree during manufacture and cannot be changed or adjusted after purchase. The panels of a DMK are still modular, allowing you to choose from WOW's full catalog of Panels and swap them out as needed throughout the lifetime of your horse and saddle. DMK Saddles offer varying levels of customization. There are limited bells and whistles, limited seat comfort options, and a couple bling options available on each model. If you are looking for a more customizable saddle, you can Build Your Own Custom WOW Saddle, which will allow unlimited customization options for all parts of the saddle.

DMK Saddles are sold with panels upgraded to Flair for you by Delfina Saddlery. Wool, Foam, and Flair MKII panels are also available. You may order Extended Forward (+2") or Short (-1") panels, and any combination of the above is available in a BBS version, too. BBS - which stands for Big Bearing Surface - offers the largest surface area:horse contact ratio of any English saddle on the market, rivaling the surface area provided by Western saddles. The BBS Panel was developed as a solution for riders who suffer from hip and/or seat pain and riders who struggle to perform hip abduction, but they have proven to be greatly preferred by horses around the world, too. BBS Panels are a great idea if your horse has a short back, if you are ordering Short (-1") panels, if your horse suffers from back pain, or if you suffer from seat, leg or hip pain.

What's Included

DMK Saddles are not sold as complete saddles by WOW, but Delfina Saddlery has included the cost of panels upgraded to Flair in the list price so you can order a complete saddle, ready to ride, with less hassle.

Two headplates and a set of stirrup leathers are also included in our DMK Saddle packages.

A set of removable Under-Flap Knee-Support (UFKS, or 'Triangles') blocks are available, which are scientifically-proven to increase limb extension and flexion, and improve gait symmetry. Because every WOW Saddle is built on their ground-breaking 'Y' Tree utilizing the WOW PPS (Pointless Panel System) build, both tree points have been completely eliminated, thus allowing your horse's shoulders to rotate and swing through their full, natural range of motion, completely unimpeded. The UFKS essentially acts as an extension of the saddle's panels around the scapulae, filling up the space typically created between the rider's knee and the horse's ribs; this allows consistent, even contact down the full length of the rider's leg while still allowing free, full shoulder rotation and extension. On horses that are 'fleshier', the UFKS may be omitted entirely. They are particularly useful on slab-sided horses and horses with a more 'streamlined' build; literally bridging the gap between the rider's leg and the horse's body.

About the DMK Show Jumping Dual-Flap Saddle

The DMK Show Jumping Dual-Flap saddle has a traditional appearance perfect for the modern American hunter/jumper rider. It comes with a stirrup keeper and full-skirt to allow use of standard leathers. The full-skirt extends to cover the top of the pommel, protecting the seat leather from being worn down by your pants' seams. The seat is incredibly comfortable; foamed to give a slim yet deep, close contact feel, whilst keeping the rider in correct balance with the horse. The two flaps are magnetized to ensure they stay neat in tidy under the rider’s leg.

The SJ Dual-Flap Saddle comes with one included movable block of your choice (Small, Curved, Low-Wedge, Hi-Wedge), and additional Velcro patches on the front and back sides of the top flap, as well as under the bottom flap; these allow for the addition of an Under-Flap Knee-Support (UFKS, or 'triangle' block) (+$150) Block, an Under-Flap Knee-Roll (UFKR, or 'banana' block)(+$180), and/or an Under-Flap Calf-Block (UFCB) (+$150). When using all three optional blocks in combination with the movable front block, the end result is a 'secret' support system for the rider's leg, creating a pre-defined channel in which to lay the leg and lock it into the correct position. Gradual removal of these blocks over time will assist the rider in building the correct leg position. These secret blocks, in combination with the saddle's overall aesthetics, make the DMK SJ Dual-Flap Saddle an excellent choice for the modern hunter/jumper rider.

The DMK SJ Dual-Flap Saddle can be built with a specialty Litex seat. Litex is a lightweight, 3D, antibacterial, spacer fabric developed by WOW's creator. Litex is designed to place a layer of air between two surfaces: in this case, the saddle and the rider. The space the fabric provides allows sweat to wick away and evaporate, keeping your seat cool and dry in hot weather, or warm and dry in cold weather. This layer of air also adds a bit of shock absorption between the two surfaces it’s placed between. Litex is easily cleaned with just a hose; only an occasional need for machine washing. The fabric can be immediately dried out simply by giving it a good shake, meaning you can wash it off and immediately re-use it. Litex seats are significantly lighter than Panel (thick calfskin) leather seats. WOW’s with a Litex seat are covered in a strong Velcro, with the Litex seat attaching over it; that means you can quickly and easily remove your saddle’s seat covering, clean it off, and re-attach it within minutes. A dream for riders needing to swap out colors as they change disciplines or Eventing phases, lesson students can pick their favorite color, or trainers can color-code a saddle for each horse.

The DMK SJ Dual-Flap has the simple aesthetics of 90's - 00's French-made close-contact saddles. The customization options allow you to make the saddle uniquely you. Despite its name, the DMK Show Jumping Dual-Flap Saddle is perfect for the hunter and eq rings, too.

The DMK SJ Dual-Flap Saddle is offered in full sizes from 16" (#0) - 19" (#3).

If you are not purchasing this saddle as a replacement for an existing WOW, be sure you've had your horse measured and fitted by a Certified WOW Saddle Fitter and be prepared to provide all necessary information to Delfina Saddlery before your order will be submitted. Please understand that all WOW Saddles are complex and unique to you and your horse - they are not mass-made, sitting on a shelf in a warehouse ready to ship tomorrow. We will need more fit information than just narrow/medium/wide like with most saddles. You must have current Saddle Gauge readings as well as numerous photos of you and your horse from various angles.

Please note, all of our WOW Saddles are made-to-order, by hand, by WOW at their World HQ in the United Kingdom. Please expect a wait time of 6 - 12 weeks for delivery, depending on current Production Lead Time.
