A darling 1950s skirt in grey chambray cotton, this vintage lovely features an embroidered, cross-stitched design of a princess, flowers and butterflies! The pink and aqua folk art embroidery design appears Eastern- or Northern-European-inspired, to me. The chambray fabric is a medium-weight cotton, with a somewhat crisp surface, but still relatively soft. The shape of the skirt is more flared than a full circle, possibly from the late 1940s or early 1950s, rather than later in the decade. The extra high, wide waistband fastens with hooks and eyes. It may have been altered (possibly taken in and then let out again), since it shows some stitch marks, most visible in back. The skirt also has a metal zipper in back. Other than the alteration marks mentioned, the skirt's only other issue is two missing, prong-set rhinestones: one from the princess' skirt, and one from the center of a flower. It is in very good condition, and super-sweet!
