Omega dress watches have a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. These elegant timepieces were specifically designed to be worn with formal attire, serving as a symbol of sophistication and status. In the 1920s, Omega introduced their first collection of dress watches, featuring sleek and minimalistic designs. These watches were characterized by their slim profiles, refined dials, and luxurious materials such as gold and platinum.
They quickly gained popularity among high-society individuals who sought to make a fashion statement. During the mid-20th century, Omega continued to innovate in the realm of dress watches. They introduced innovative features like automatic movements and water resistance while maintaining their commitment to timeless design aesthetics. In recent years, Omega has modernized its dress watch offerings by incorporating cutting-edge technology alongside classic design elements.
What's on Offer
This 1940s Omega dress watch is in unbelievably good condition with barely any marks of previous which is remarkable given its age of over 75 years! The dial (which is huge for the time of production) is in pristine condition, blemish-free with applied arrowhead hour markers, elegant leaf hands and a blued steel central seconds hand. A gold applied Omega completes the dial which is encapsulated underneath an acrylic crystal and encased in stainless steel with a mushroom crown. The lugs are particularly nice on this watch and curve ergonomically onto the wrist making it comfortable. This watch is all dial with only the slimmest of bezels, so the watch wears even larger than its 38mm - a great size and comparable to its modern counterparts. This is a rare piece and in such fantastic condition we are sad to part with it!
