The year of 2015 not only marked the 75th anniversary of the Portugieser family but also saw the launch of IWC Schaffhausen’s newly developed annual calendar. The colourful history of the IWC Portugieser watch family reflects the success of the small Schaffhausen-based watchmaking factory that began so long ago. This elegant timepiece crafted from 18ct red gold is equipped with the masterful calibre 52850, which controls an annual calendar displayed underneath the twelfth hour. The calendar showcases the day, month and date in three separate windows, automatically taking into account the differing lengths of the months. The Arabic numerals on the periphery of the dial are spaced out nicely. Hour markers at 12, 1, 3, 9, and 11 have been replaced for the power reserve display at 3 o’clock, the calendar and the small hacking seconds feature at 9 o’clock. The movement also Features an astonishing 8-day power reserve and is complete with 36 jewels, whilst oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour.
