It's amazing what you can find in the crystal clear lagoons of the French Polynesian islands. One unique shell you might find is the somewhat large Maoa Taratoni (Burgau), which is a relative of the Turbo shells found throughout the world. The thick shell is camouflaged against the coral reefs and has several different color layers. Carvers love this material as it is unique at every layer. Colors can range from the typical mother of pearl colors to pink, green, and white.
