This whip or crop has a slightly flexible core and is covered in brown braided thread.
It has a rather dented brass cap, this is stamped "Warranted Steel Lined".

There are twelve brass ferrules or collars along the shaft of the whip.

The whip ends in a replacement open keeper or loop, a thong could be attached to this.

I suspect it was originally a longer dealer's whip but lost some of its length, it is now suitable of in-hand showing of cobs or heavy horses
