Taken by Mark Weiss, the image reflects the raw energy and immediacy that defined the band’s early years, at a moment when their presence was still unfolding within the broader rock landscape.

The photograph originated in the backstage environment following a live performance, capturing a spontaneous and unguarded gesture that would later become emblematic of the band’s attitude during this period. The image was later selected as the cover of Weiss’s book The Decade That Rocked (2020).
