This is a dark tan leather saddle with a good patina. It was probably an officer's private purchase.

It has burrs at the front and fans at the back, these all have brass rings to allow for the attachment of equipment.

The saddle has a spoon shaped cantle at the back. The Pommel and cantle are edged in brass.

There would have been a ring or buckle on the pommel, this has been lost. There are a few insect holes around the waist of the seat and there is a small rectangular repair on the seat.

The saddle has a paper label for Whippy & Steggall on each side, It has safety stirrup bars, these are stamped "Whippy".
Underneath it has quilted leather full panels and three girth straps
