This whalebone sidesaddle whip has a silver cap and collar with foliate and engine turned decoration.
Both are hallmarked Birmingham 1887, the cap is also stamped "Zair Makers" and "G & J Z".
The cap has a loop for a wrist strap.
The collar has a blank oval cartouche for the engraving of initials.
Between the cap and collar, the grip is covered in brown leather with a very finely stitched seam.
There is a narrow strip of replacement leather above the collar.
The flexible stock is covered in braided linen or hemp
There is a bound repair to the braiding of the stock ( see images ).
The whip has its original lash at its end..
