Harvest: 2025 First Flush Spring Shincha

Organically grown on a small family-owned farm in Shizuoka, Japan (south of Mt. Fuji), this fukamushi sencha is fresh, full, and soft. 

Fukamushi is a style of sencha production refined in the mid-1950s, during which the tea leaves are steamed longer than traditional sencha. The resulting tea has a coarser shape with fine particles due to the softened plant fibers. In this fukamushi, the resulting bright green tea and sweet taste are enhanced by the use of leaves from the yabukita cultivar, one of the most popular Japanese cultivars for sencha.

You will find this sencha to be pleasantly soft and smooth and sweet, reminiscent of gentle mornings with the smell of sweet dew on fresh greens.
