This striking, wonderfully done carved wooden elephant makes me think of the wonders of visiting both the Natural History Museum and the circus as a child; though of tabletop scale, it feels grand in presence, and rather majestic, conveying a sense of the massive gravitas of the elephant! Perfect matte gray paint, only interrupted by the whites of the eyes and tusks (and a bit of red at the mouth) and then just the right green for the base, which makes it feel all the more as if in a museum on an elevated platform. Just perfect.

7 5/8” x 4 3/16 x 6” t. One well done repair to a split in the tail, as documented. Otherwise, and overall, great condition.
