17th C Italian Apothecary JarAntique, 17th century, Italian apothecary jar. Made of faience, otherwise known as a fine tin glaze pottery. Jar is in rare yellow color and condition is consistent with age. Jar originally held Rosatum, a powder used in traditional medicine, made from red roses, liquorice, aloeswood, yellowheart, cinnamon, cloves, mace, gum tragacanth, nutmegs, cardamoms, galangals, spikenard, ambergris, and musk. Jar still carries a trace scent. 8" x 5"
