Inspired by the hand-knotted heirloom rug of the same name, Solace wallpaper enjoys the same combination of four colours - gold, black, violet, and warm white. The original rug design was inspired by intricate, detailed embroidery, which is also reflected in the wallpaper design.
Elegant gold cranes - a symbol of longevity, good fortune, integrity, balance, and devotion - soar above slim strands of foliage and exotic orchids. Glorious orchid blooms are a powerful symbol in Far Eastern philosophy, representing beauty, charm, love, refinement, and thoughtfulness.
As with many of Wendy’s designs, the power and influence of nature is clear, with all aspects of the natural world co-existing in harmony. The gold, black and warm white create a glamorous, neutral backdrop, lifted with a touch of violet on each crane’s head.

The mural is made of 4 drops of individual panels. Each panel is 68.5cm wide, 3m high and supplied as one continuous roll. The completed design measures 274cm wide.

In 2004 freelance fashion designer Wendy Morrison accepted a commission to design a rug collection.
