Very rare beautiful shipping company paperweight commemorating the famous turn of the century French Line liner SS Espagne.
The SS Espagne was an 11,155-GRT ocean liner built in 1909–10 for the French company Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (French Line). Launching from the Chantiers & Ateliers de Provence shipyard in Port-de-Bouc on 19 December 1909, she entered service in October 1910. Initially she ran routes to Central America and the West Indies, later shifting to Le Havre-New York. During WWI she was requisitioned as a troopship from around 1916 to 1920. After the war she returned to civilian service until June 1932, when she was laid up; she was scrapped at Saint-Nazaire in 1934.
