Style ADRIANASWEATER is a knitwear pattern instructions.

The pattern comes in a PDF file, and can be downloaded and printed from the computer.

The measurements are based on the size of the sweater before washing ; the sweater might increase in cm when washed depending on the way it ́s washed. The sweater gives a positive ease of 15-20 cm.

Material

Hand dyed Chunky baby alpaca, 100% baby alpaca wool from Thelma Steimann. Super soft and wonderful thread to work with. Each hank consists of 100 m in 100 gr. 

COL1: 4/5/5/6/6/6

Circular needle 6 mm in 80/100 cm

Circular needle 7 mm in 40 and 80/100 cm

5 x DPN needles 6 mm and additional 1 needle for the cables

Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

Make sure to check your tension by creating a gauge swatch before starting your knit.

Gauge: 16 stitches and 12 rows in height with 1 x 1 rib *1 k st, 1 p st* with 7 mm needles for a 10 x 10 cm swatch.

Everyone’s tension is different, so if your tension is too tight and your gauge swatch measures too little, change to a thicker needle. If your tension is too loose and your gauge swatch is too wide, change to a thinner needle. 

Good to know

The sweater is knitted bottom up with a 1x1 rib with two colors in round for the whole project. The body and sleeves are knitted separately and connected together by the yoke and knitted as one piece from there in round. In the pattern I refer to the two colors as main color (col 1) and contrast color (col 2), both colors are equally at play here, the main color is the knitted stitch and the contrast color is the purled.

Yarn quantity required is based on an average, and is therefore an approximate number. It gives a great effect to work with hand dyed yarns that have some similarities, for example if your main color is solid brown, allow the contrast color to have speckles of the same brown tone.

When working with hand dyed yarns I recommend you to alternate by working with two hanks at a time so the color blends more evenly in the project. When you knit with both hanks at the same time, you simply change them out in every other row. Here is a good example on how to do it if you’re not familiar with the technique:

It might seem like a lot of work as you are already working with two colors throughout the whole project, but you should be super quick to catch on and the end results are going to be a lot nicer.
