Transform your boating experience with the Garmin GPSMAP 8617, a powerhouse 17-inch multifunction display that delivers unmatched clarity and control on the water. Designed for serious mariners, this MFD combines stunning visuals, seamless networking, and advanced navigation tools to keep you ahead of every wave, whether you're cruising coastal waters, chasing trophy fish, or racing competitively. Its premium build ensures reliability in harsh marine environments, making it a favorite among yacht owners and professional anglers who demand precision and performance.
The heart of the GPSMAP 8617 is its expansive 17-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen, boasting a razor-sharp 1920 x 1200 resolution that sets the standard in marine displays. Sunlight-readable with an anti-glare finish, it automatically dims for comfortable nighttime viewing, while in-plane switching technology maintains vivid, accurate colors from any angle. Pinch-to-zoom gestures feel intuitive, and the low-profile flush or edge-to-edge flat mounting creates a sleek, modern glass helm that looks as good as it performs.
Building a connected marine ecosystem has never been easier. With four Garmin Marine Network ports, NMEA 2000 and 0183 support, built-in Wi-Fi, ANT technology, HDMI, USB, and Ethernet connectivity, the 8617 shares user data, maps, radar overlays, IP camera feeds, and more across compatible Garmin devices. Control autopilots, digital switching, FUSION-Link audio, VHF, AIS, and weather from one intuitive screen. SmartMode station controls let you switch presets—like docking, fishing, or cruising—with a single touch, reducing stress in critical moments.
Preloaded with high-detail Garmin Navionics+ charts, BlueChart g3 coastal coverage for US and Western Canada, and LakeVü g3 inland maps, navigation is effortless right out of the box. Auto Guidance+ technology suggests optimal routes based on your vessel's specs, while Quickdraw Contours creates personalized 1-foot HD fishing maps on the fly—no expertise needed. Add optional Garmin Navionics Vision+ for daily updates, sonar overlays, and enhanced coastal/inland details. Multiple depth shading highlights target zones, and 10 Hz GPS refreshes your position 10 times per second for fluid tracking.
Pair it with GSD black box sonar modules, GCV ClearVü/SideVü, or Panoptix all-seeing sonar for crystal-clear fish arches and structure scans. Compatible Garmin radars—like xHD2 open-array or Fantom with MotionScope—deliver real-time hazard detection. Sailing enthusiasts love the SailAssist tools: laylines, polars, wind rose, race timers, and tide data help optimize trim and strategy. Support for FLIR thermal cameras and surround-view systems adds unmatched situational awareness.
Stay connected via the free ActiveCaptain app over built-in Wi-Fi. Access OneChart for easy map management, smart notifications, software updates, and Quickdraw Community crowdsourced data. Plan routes onshore, sync waypoints effortlessly, and overlay engine data or media for a holistic view. It's like having your entire boat's brain in your pocket.
