Trade-offs to know

Unglazed clay absorbs flavour over time. If you rotate between wildly different flavour profiles on the same bowl, the last session can tint the next one. Many of our customers dedicate an unglazed bowl to one flavour family (dark-leaf only, for example) for that reason.

Running it

• Rinse before first use and let it dry.
• Pack to just below the rim — fluffier for lighter heat, denser for dark leaf.
• Foil with small holes, or drop your HMD on top.
• Two or three coals, draw gently once the heat builds.

Care

• Warm water rinse after each session — don't soak long-term.
• Gentle soft brush through the holes.
• Air dry fully before storing.
• Expect patina to develop with use — that's normal for unglazed clay and can improve heat behaviour over time.
