This is a 10 Pfennig German Reich postal stationery card, issued under the Universal Postal Union (UPU) regulations. The card bears a pre-printed red indicium featuring the German imperial eagle and is inscribed "Deutschland – Allemagne". It was mailed from Markirch (Alsace) on 18 August 1889, with a clear circular postmark. A blue transit marking “Étranger” was applied upon entry into France.
The card is addressed to Monsieur Sorgat, 16 rue du Petit Thouars, Paris. The reverse contains a handwritten French message dated the same period, conveying personal greetings and health updates.
Such cards are valued for their cross-border postal history, showing Germany–France correspondence during the late 19th century. Collectors appreciate them for their clear cancellations, intact condition, and the social history reflected in the original message.
