Ladderback jacquard is a technique used in colorwork knitting to manage long floats, creating a more flexible and elastic fabric. It's particularly useful when working with stranded knitting patterns where long floats (yarn carried across the back of the work) are needed. Instead of trapping these floats within the fabric, ladderback jacquard creates a "ladder" of stitches on the back, securing the floats and preventing them from being pulled or showing through on the front.

• you must know how to do stranded colorwork.
• you must have done stranded colorwork before.

You will learn:

• Ladderback Jacquard colorwork technique for catching floats

Bring with you:

• 2 contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn
• size US 7 needles
• a printed copy of your pattern (get pattern here)
• a highlighter/ marker of your choice to mark on the chart
• darning needle
• scissors

Homework:

• Complete ribbing and knit to 1 row before colorwork begins.
