With its huge, deeply lobed leaves, Philodendron Selloum makes a dramatic statement wherever it grows. This tropical beauty flourishes both indoors and outdoors.
Philodendron Selloum thrives in USDA zones 9-11 outdoors. Elsewhere grow it as a container plant. Give it bright, indirect light. Water when the top few inches of soil are dry. Mist to increase humidity.
Allow the top third of soil to dry out between waterings. Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Keep away from cold drafts. Move indoors before temps drop below 50°F.
Philodendron Selloum makes an exotic accent plant both indoors and out. Plant in groups for tropical impact in garden beds. Use alone in pots on decks or patios.
Space Philodendron plants 4-6 feet apart in partly shaded garden beds. Dig a hole twice the container width, backfill with soil, and water well. For containers use a quality potting mix.
Remove dead leaves and spent flowers to keep your Philodendron looking its best. Rotate indoor plants periodically for even growth. Repot in early spring as needed.
Watch for aphids, scale, and mealybugs. Treat with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap. Avoid overwatering which can lead to root rot. Improve air flow and prune affected leaves.
