Thin plastic trim surround on the box covers the rough edges of your drywall opening, but you will only see that trim surround when you open the door the door covers it when closed. The box is 3.5 in. deep inside and gives you plenty of usable depth, but fits in standard 2 in. x 4 in. walls. The door only projects about 1 from the wall when closed. The door is NOT drilled for a knob, so it is reversible to open either Left or Right nickel knobs are included but not installed. Completely assembled, all you need to do is put one screw in each hinge to mount the door. Then insert it into the wall and screw it to the studs with included screws.
