In partnership with The Plaster Cast Workshop of the Rmn - Grand Palais, this 35cm candle draws its inspiration from Gilbert du Motier (1757-1834), the eminent French military officer and politician known as the Marquis de La Fayette. Abjuring the aristocratic system abolished during the French Revolution, he chose to be designated as Lafayette in 1789 and was remembered by this title throughout history. The celebrated bust, sculpted by Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1790, encapsulates Lafayette's eminent status and impact with its regal profile.
