Just a tiny thing with a safety pin stuck through the back may years ago so as to be able to wear as a pin. I'm not sure if it ever had another purpose--though it could certainly be used to keep a few needles from getting lost. I can't help it, I have to bring home little things like this, which someone so lovingly cut of two pieces of baby blue leather, hand-stitched together with a little stuffing inside, and gave a poof of white tail.
