These wooden clapsticks, or clappers, or singing sticks, make a terrifically satisfying clap when struck--in addition to being wonderful objects that feel great in the hand. There is a fantastic variety of Australian Aboriginal clapsticks out there--many decorated with burned designs like these, others painted and/or carved. They have been used as percussive instruments for thousands of years, often in concert with the didgeridoo, a wind instrument of which there are similarly an incredible array of beautiful examples!
Each stick measures approx 9 1/2" long x 1 3/8" in diameter. One has a thin split in the wood at one end, as pictured, but there are otherwise in excellent condition.
