Base Requirements

For the Shire Holkham 6 x 8 Wooden Greenhouse, we recommend preparing a firm, level base at least 50 mm larger overall than the building footprint. The footprint is approximately 179 cm x 238 cm, so a base of at least around 184 cm x 243 cm is recommended.

No floor is supplied with this greenhouse. The greenhouse sits on a pressure-treated base rail, so it must be installed on a suitable prepared base.

A suitable base could be made from concrete, paving slabs, or a strong, level timber/decking base. The greenhouse should not be installed directly onto grass, soil, gravel, or an uneven surface.
