Executed in richly figured Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), the bookshelf is defined by its disciplined structural framework, consisting of two substantial vertical side cases interconnected by continuous horizontal beams that create a bold modular composition. The resulting arrangement establishes a striking visual rhythm while offering a variety of open compartments designed to accommodate books, objects, artwork, and collectibles of differing scales.

The lower section incorporates a bank of four integrated drawers, providing concealed storage while maintaining the purity and balance of the overall design. Exposed fasteners, visible joinery, and clearly articulated construction details reflect Rodrigues’ enduring commitment to structural honesty, where the method of construction becomes an integral part of the aesthetic language.

Crafted from premium old-growth Brazilian rosewood, the piece exhibits exceptional grain movement throughout, ranging from deep chocolate and espresso tones to warm amber and reddish-brown highlights. Decades of careful aging have allowed the wood to develop a remarkable patina, accentuating the dramatic figuring and natural tonal variation characteristic of the finest jacarandá. The surface presents a refined satin-matte finish that highlights the depth and richness of the material while preserving its organic character.

Unlike conventional wall-mounted shelving, this example is fully finished on all sides and was intentionally designed as a freestanding architectural unit.
