The spurs have their original purple velvet lined fitted square case.

The lid of the case is lined in satin and stamped "Maxwell, 8 Dover St., Piccadilly W."

The spurs are made of gilt brass with steel inserts which would fit into "boxes" in the heel of the boot.
The arms and straight necks of the spurs are cast with acorns and oak leaves.
The rose shaped rowels are similarly decorated.
Each neck is stamped "Maxwell" (a famous London boot & spurmaker).
The steel parts of the spurs are also stamped with Maxwell's late nineteenth century address , 161, Piccadilly, London.
The casting is crisp and both spurs are in very good condition.

There is a little wear to one corner of the velvet in the case and to the outer edges of the case

Very similar spurs can be seen in Charles de Lacy Lacy's 1902 book "The History of the Spur"
