RMS Windsor Castle Wall Sconce - 1960's. We salvaged these from Union Castles RMS Windsor Castle back in 2005 and we have just uncovered this batch from the back of one of our warehouses. Built and styled in the 1960's, "The Windsor" was one of the finest ships we ever did. Plexiglass diamond patterned cover slips onto the aluminium frame and is supplied with it's original bayonet fitting. Takes a B22 bulb. As with all original salvaged lights variations can occur. If you are after quantities of this light, please let us know.
Flagship of the Union Castle Line, built Cammel Laird & Company. Launched in 1959 as RMS Windsor Castle, she made a total of 124 round voyages. The Royal Mail Ship Windsor Castle of 1959 was the largest passenger and cargo mail ship operated by the Union-Castle Line on their ‘Cape Mail’ service to South African ports. The new vessel was notable for the high standard and design of her public rooms in a “traditional” first class and “contemporary” tourist class configuration, which afforded both classes public rooms and deck space facing forward. The spacious passenger lounges and dining rooms were designed by eminent British architects.
