Designed in the 1960s by Sergio Rodrigues, this large dining and conference table belongs to the Beg family, a group of works developed to address collective use within institutional and civic environments. Conceived during a period when Brazilian Modernism expanded beyond the domestic interior, the Beg series reflects Rodrigues’ belief that furniture should foster dialogue, shared presence, and democratic spatial relationships.

Originally used at the Central Bank of Brazil, the table exemplifies how Rodrigues translated the principles of Brazilian Modern design—material honesty, structural clarity, and human scale—into large-format furniture. The structure is crafted from Imbuia wood with a Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda) veneer, recently applied to restore material continuity and visual coherence. The metal legs, newly re-plated, introduce rhythm and stability without overwhelming the composition.

Seating up to ten people, the table emphasizes horizontality, durability, and collective use.
