This is a pair of shoe trees or stretchers
Each has a tall handle. When this is pushed down a steel mechanism pushes the heel backwards, thus stretching a shoe. This mechanism can be seen in Peal's SP boot lasts, but this pair do not have any maker's plaques or stamps.
Each has an extra leather pad tacked on to its heel, presumably to better mimic their owner's feet.
They were working tools, one handle has a split in it, both have old scars and scratches and there are some old (long dead) woodworm holes in one.
They could be used today or would look good on display
