A good quality black silk top hat suitable for formal wear, Ascot etc.

The inside of the hatband of this hat measures 58.7cm or 23⅛", that is size 7¼ in UK hat sizes or 7⅜ in the USA
The hat is covered in black silk plush, the silk is in very good condition.
The black fabric on the underside of the brim and the felt hat band are also in good condition
Inside the hat is lined in cream silk which is in good clean condition - there are a few faint marks and previous owner's initials (HM) have been written on the inside band .
It is stamped "Woodrow, Piccadilly, London" with a Royal Warrant to the late King George VI.

The hat slots into a bucket shaped tan leather case with a brass lock and fittings.

The case is in  good condition, complete with its top straps, but I do not have the key for it. There are a few scuffs and scratches to the leather

The case is lined in red velvet and there is a label for the Army & Navy Company inside the lid
