Effects of this medicine
This medicine lowers blood pressure by reducing the peripheral blood vascular resistance via antagonism to angiotensin II receptor, a substance in the body which constricts blood vessels to elevate blood pressure.
It is usually used to treat of hypertension.
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・Hypertension (adults): In general, for adults, take 1 to 2 tablets (4 to 8 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. The dosage may be increased up to 3 tablets (12 mg) at a time, once a day, as needed. If you have renal disorder, start with 0.5 tablets (2 mg) at a time, once a day and the dosage may be increased up to 2 tablets (8 mg) at a time, once a day, as needed.
Hypertension (children): In general, for children aged 1 or over but under 6 years, take 0.05 to 0.3 mg of the active ingredient per kilogram of the body weight at a time, once a day. For children aged 6 years or over, take 0.5 to 2 tablets (2 to 8 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. The dosage may be increased up to 3 tablets (12 mg) at a time, once a day, as needed. If you have renal disorder, start with low dose and the dosage may be increased up to 2 tablets (8 mg) at a time, once a day, as needed.
Renal parenchymal hypertension: In general, for adults, start with 0.5 tablets (2 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day, and the dosage may be increased up to 2 tablets (8 mg) at a time, once a day, as needed.
This preparation contains 4 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
・However, wait at least 8 hours to take the next dose. You should never take two doses at one time.
Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist
・If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicines or foods.
・If you have a high blood level of potassium, low blood level of sodium, cardiac disease, renal disorder, or liver disorder.
・If you are in a preoperative condition, on hemodialysis, or on a regimen of low-salt diet.
・If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
・As dizziness and light headedness may appear due to excessive lowering of blood pressure, pay close attention when working at heights or operating dangerous machinery such as driving a car.
