This striking 20 Pesos airmail issue from Chile, released in 1958, commemorates the centenary of the Instituto Alemán Carlos Anwandter in Valdivia (1858–1958). The design, printed in deep red, features a finely engraved portrait of German immigrant and cultural leader Carlos Anwandter, who played a key role in education and civic development in southern Chile. Inscribed “Correo Aéreo Chile,” the stamp was produced by the Casa de Moneda de Chile with elegant line engraving. A classic mid-20th century commemorative, it is highly valued by collectors of Chilean history, airmails, and German heritage abroad. A notable addition to any serious philatelic collection.
