A good quality black silk top hat suitable for formal wear, Ascot etc.

The inside of the hatband of this hat measures 58.5cm or 23", that is size 7⅛-7¼ in UK hat sizes or 7¼-7⅜ in the USA
The hat is covered in black silk plush, the silk is in very good condition.
The black fabric on the underside of the brim and the felt hat band are also in good condition
Inside the hat is lined in cream silk which is in good clean condition - there are marks where a previous owner's initials have been removed.
It is stamped "Birse, Clothier & Hatter, Brechin".

The hat slots into a bucket shaped tan leather case with a brass lock and fittings.

The case is in very good condition, complete with its top straps, but I do not have the key for it.

The case is lined in red silk
