This 1971 Deutsche Bundespost commemorative features a deep olive portrait of Friedrich Ebert, the first President of the Weimar Republic, originally from the 1928–1932 “Reichspräsident Ebert” design series. Reissued with a bold black overprint “DEM DEUTSCHEN VOLKE”, the stamp was part of a special series marking historic democratic themes in post-war Germany. The crisp line-engraved portrait contrasts elegantly with the red typography and the modern 30-Pf denomination. Attractive to collectors for its political significance, overprint variety, and its bridging of Imperial, Weimar, and Federal German postal iconography. A desirable item that combines historic portraiture with a symbolic message of service to the German people.
