A classic example of a Huron style snowshoe. Often called the Michigan or Maine, this snowshoe shape is thee most popular in design. Utilitarian origins produce a wonderful snowshoe that excels in its diversity, good in open or rolling terrain as well as in open forests. This particular snowshoe is very large and was most likely designed for deeper snow and a heavy user.
