The Stanford Research Systems PS300 Series is a line of high-voltage DC power supplies built around three efficient, microprocessor-controlled switching supplies. Each delivers 25 watts of output power, with maximum output voltages reaching up to 5 kV depending on the model. Every supply in the series provides 0.001% regulation and 0.05% accuracy, and the output voltage can be adjusted with one-volt resolution across the entire operating range.

A high-voltage DC power supply provides a precisely controlled, adjustable high-voltage output to a connected load, with the output continuously sensed and regulated against a programmed setpoint. The PS300 series applies fast-acting limit circuitry that works to protect both the supply and the load: an adjustable voltage limit guards against setting the output above a safe level, while an independent current limit lowers the voltage setting whenever the load current would exceed the configured value.

Stanford Research Systems instruments purchased through ValueTronics ship from our own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our inventory on hand. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house by our technicians before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The PS300 series consists of three high-voltage DC power supplies that share a common 25 W output capability, a microprocessor-controlled switching architecture, and 0.001% regulation with 0.05% accuracy. The models differ principally in their maximum output voltage and the corresponding maximum output current.

All three supplies offer adjustable output polarity, programmable voltage and current limits, current trip protection, front-panel LED voltage and current displays, and an optional GPIB interface — so the choice among them is driven primarily by the voltage and current required at the load.

Each model below links to its own dedicated product page, where pre-owned pricing is matched to that specific unit and condition. Select the model that meets your voltage and current requirements, then choose the listing that fits your needs.

The three models span a graduated set of voltage and current ratings: the PS310 provides an output of 12 VDC to 1.25 kV at up to 20 mA, the PS325 covers 25 VDC to 2.50 kV at up to 10 mA, and the PS350 reaches 50 VDC to 5.00 kV at up to 5 mA. As the maximum output voltage increases across the series, the maximum available output current decreases.

Current resolution also differs by model: the PS310 and PS325 provide 10 µA current resolution, while the PS350 offers finer 1 µA resolution. The comparison table below summarizes the per-model voltage, current, and resolution figures to help match a specific model to your application.

Model Max Output Voltage Max Output Current Voltage Range
PS350 5.00 kV 5 mA 50 VDC to 5.00 kV
PS310 1.25 kV 20 mA 12 VDC to 1.25 kV
PS325 2.50 kV 10 mA 25 VDC to 2.50 kV

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Output polarity is set with a rear-panel switch; it cannot be controlled over the computer interface and can only be changed while the unit is off.
Important: Output connection uses rear-panel SHV (Kings type 1704-1 or equivalent) connectors; the mating connector is SHV female (Kings type 1705-14). Optional cables (SHV-to-SHV or SHV-to-MHV) for connection with standard high-voltage connectors are not included with the base unit and must be ordered separately.
Important: A three-position, high-voltage enable switch on the front panel prevents the high voltage from being turned on under computer control unless the switch has been manually armed.
Important: The optional GPIB interface allows control of all instrument functions except output polarity.

More About the PS300 Series

The PS300 Series from Stanford Research Systems is a line of high voltage DC power supplies with output capability up to 20 kV. Presented as rugged, compact, and reliable instruments for a wide range of high voltage applications, the series spans seven models with outputs ranging from 1.25 kV to 20 kV. With a GPIB computer interface and 0.001% voltage regulation, these supplies are positioned as an industry standard for high voltage power.

The PS300 Series is suited to both R&D laboratory work and automated test applications. Because every model is arc and short-circuit protected and provides separate programmable hard and soft current limits, the supplies can also be operated as constant current sources, extending their use across high voltage test setups.

Across the series, two construction classes are offered: the PS310, PS325, and PS350 are dual-polarity 25 W supplies, while the PS355, PS365, PS370, and PS375 are single-polarity 10 W supplies. All models are arc and short-circuit protected and provide programmable hard and soft current limits.

The single-polarity models reach higher voltages: the PS355 to −10 kV and PS365 to +10 kV at 1 mA, and the PS370 to −20 kV and PS375 to +20 kV at 500 µA. Power class and interface fit also vary: the 25 W dual-polarity models offer GPIB as an option, while the 10 W single-polarity models include both GPIB and RS-232 as standard.

  • Programmable hard and soft current limits and current trip; usable as constant-current sources
  • Two LED displays for output voltage and current; stores up to nine instrument configurations
  • GPIB and RS-232 standard on 10 W models; GPIB optional on 25 W models
Important: Both GPIB and RS-232 computer interfaces are standard on all 10 W supplies; GPIB is available as Option 01 on the 25 W instruments (PS310/PS325/PS350).
Important: Each model uses a model-specific high-voltage output connector and mating connector (Kings 1704-1/1705-1 for PS310/325/350, Kings 1064-1/1065-1 for PS355/365, Kings 1764-1/1765-1 for PS370/375); select the correct mating connector for the chosen model.
