Shopping security
When your headstall needs to stay put during a tough pattern or a long trail ride, the Weaver Leather Austin Browband Headstall delivers the most secure design available — full browband and throatlatch construction that won't rub off, no matter how active your horse gets. Crafted from 5/8" premium English bridle leather with smoothed, darkened edges, this headstall feels supple from day one and only gets better with time.
Weaver backed this design with authentic Horse Shoe Brand hardware — floral-engraved stainless steel pieces designed by custom saddlemaker Jeremiah Watt. Black chrome-tanned lace bit ends provide a traditional, vibration-proof connection, and etched nickel brass spots along the browband and cheeks add just enough shimmer for the show pen. From our barn to yours, this is the headstall that riders reach for when quality and reliability matter most.
Western exhibitors and trail riders looking for a secure, show-quality headstall that won't rub off during active work and transitions seamlessly from arena to backcountry.
The Weaver Leather Austin Headstall is sold in standard horse size, designed to fit most 800–1,100 lb horses. The sliding cheekpiece adjustments allow for fine-tuning on Quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas, and similar breeds. If you have a very refined Arab or a large draft cross, you may want to confirm measurements.
This headstall uses traditional black chrome-tanned lace ties — not Chicago screws. Riders who prefer this style appreciate the secure connection that won't vibrate loose during a ride or when a horse shakes its head.
Absolutely. The Austin Browband Headstall is designed for western curb bits and works beautifully with traditional shanked bits, correctional bits, or low-port curbs. The lace ties accommodate most standard bit sizes.
