Minted in Mexico City, the coin features the crowned monogram of Ferdinand VII on the obverse, while the reverse displays the traditional Pillars of Hercules with the PLUS ULTRA banner, symbolising Spain’s imperial reach.
Weighing approximately 27 grams and measuring around 38–40 mm in diameter, it was widely used in international trade, prized for its consistent silver content, and remained a trusted medium of exchange across the Americas and Asia.
