Pandas are unique animals that have captured the imagination of people both within China and the West. Their black and white furs combined with its deceptively docile and bear-like appearance has led to its likeness appearing on various silver and gold formats throughout the years. In 2022, two platinum formats will join the usual line-up of gold and silver formats to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first panda release in 1982.

On the obverse, it features two panda cubs playing with snow, showing a kind of innocence and harmony between animal and nature. You will also find a privy mark of 40 representing the 40th release of the panda coin.

The reverse side of the coin features the famous Temple of Heaven found in Beijing along with the Chinese inscription above the image reading "People's Republic of China" and the year "2022".
