Pocket winging can sometimes feel a bit technical, which is why we’ve designed the FRIGATE to be incredibly easy to use. Thanks to its stability, intuitive handling, comfort and exceptional upwind performance, it lets you focus on what’s important.

The FRIGATE stands out for its quick and effortless upwind ability. Its aerodynamic design generates a forward pull that facilitates going upwind, combining immediate power with efficient acceleration, making it also possible to use smaller foils. Stability and control are maintained, even when sheeted out, for an efficient, comfortable ride in all conditions.

Thanks to its stiff leading edge, optimized canopy tension and minimalist bridle system, the FRIGATE benefits from reduced drag and optimal airflow, bringing stability, performance and a wider wind range.

This wide wind range means you can ride all day without changing size. In the low end, the FRIGATE offers constant power with minimal effort. In the high end, it remains stable and predictable, even when the wind increases.

The FRIGATE features a revolutionary dynamic bridle system, designed to optimize the shape of the pocket wing in both sheeted-in and sheeted-out positions, without any adjustment required from the rider. This innovative, pulley-free system automatically adjusts the different tensions of the sail, lessens creases and risks of entanglement, offers better upwind performance, and maximizes performance in both high and low end.

The FRIGATE is easy and intuitive to handle, thanks to its short bridle and reassuring color code, limiting the risk of tangling. The top of the bar, the top bridles (A), and the leading edge all share the same color as well for greater ease and comprehension during the session.

Once deployed, it is immediately ready to perform. Ultra-compact, it can be stowed quickly, allowing you to set off again in the blink of an eye, and to spend more time downwinding and less time going upwind.

• MINI-RIBS AND D-RIBS

  The FRIGATE’s design includes mini-ribs and D-ribs. Derived from paragliding, these allow for a better definition of the profile and a reduction in the number of bridles.

  This technology reinforces the sail’s structure and ensures better stability; the pocket wing is faster, stiffer, and performs better upwind.

• DYNAMIC BRIDLE SYSTEM

  
  

  The FRIGATE’s revolutionary dynamic bridle system is designed to optimize the shape of this pocket wing when sheeted in and sheeted out. Bridles are activated when the sail is sheeted out and others when it is sheeted in, without any adjustment required by the rider.

  Thanks to this innovative bridle system, performance is maximized in both high and low end, without the need for additional systems such as pulleys, which significantly increase the risk of tangling.

  The dynamic bridle system allows for better control of the sail’s tension, resulting in far fewer folds, even when it is fully sheeted out. This leads to better performance and better upwind abilities.

  The high-quality sheathed bridle guarantees ideal stiffness and minimal stretch, ensuring reliability and ease of use. These LIROS bridles, with their optimized diameter and rigidity, offer excellent abrasion resistance, low elongation, and dependability. Their design also prevents knots and tangling, and ensures maximum safety for the rider.

  A small stash handle, located at arm’s length, makes it very easy to depower the FRIGATE and stow it efficiently.

  The lightweight, small-diameter vertical carbon bar is designed for precise steering, intuitive power control, and easy stashing.

  Thanks to the EVA grip, this bar provides increased comfort and a secure, ergonomic hold. Even with one hand, every movement is smooth and natural.

• PORCHER MATERIAL

  
  

  The canopy of this single-skin pocket wing is made from state-of-the-art Porcher fabric, renowned for its quality, durability and its best lightness/rigidity ratio.

  This waterproof material also ensures the FRIGATE remains light and easy to re-launch, even if it falls in the water.

DETAILS:

• HARNESS LINE

  Essential to pocket winging, a harness offers greater comfort by reducing arm strain, improves performance by optimizing the sail’s control, and increases the range of use by adapting better to wind variations.

  As such, the FRIGATE comes with a mono-harness line with a single attachment point, for a more precise, sensitive, and direct steering. This harness line benefits from optimized stiffness and a minimalist, low-profile design to ensure easy attachment and prevent tangling in the pocket wing lines.

  Adjusting the harness line on the front of the bar, between lines A and B, allows you to adapt the sail’s behavior to the wind conditions:

  • In the forward position (closer to A), the harness line reduces the power generated, which is ideal in strong winds.
  • In the rear position (closer to B), it increases the sail’s traction, which is more suitable for light wind conditions.
• B POSITION

  For the B lines, be sure to always place the B Velcro in the center of the bar, regardless of the black/orange marking. This is particularly important for the FRIGATE 4.7 m² using the 41 cm bar.
