Johannes took over his family estate in 2012, continuing the vision of his father Hans who was a pioneer of organic viticulture in Austria in the 1980s. With 40 years of organic farming, the winery benefits from incredibly strong and healthy soils and vines, growing in the hills north and south of Velm-Götzendorf. Where the winery is located at the edge of the Weinviertel region, the vines grow in the acidic granite of the ‘Moravian Superunit’, which weathers to quartz rich-sand. Johannes relies on ancient methods of vinifying and ageing his wines such as hand picking, spontaneous fermentation and using wooden acacia barrels or amphorae. This is made possible by using perfect and healthy grapes – the basis for all great wines.

This "Parcellaire" range is a further development of my previous single vineyard wines. For these 3 wines (blanc #1, blanc & Sauvignon and rouge #1), I select only the coolest parcels of my oldest vineyards: those close to forests, facing north and northeast and windy hilltops – all of them growing on lime-sandstone soils. These are the 3 unique cool climate personalities.

Welschriesling (62%) x Chardonnay (38%)

Welschriesling is whole bunch fermented in amphoras, pressed and matured in 500 lt barrels.

Chardonnay is whole cluster pressed, fermented in old NUMEN barrels and aged for 8 month under flor; blended 1 month before bottling.
