This note comes from one of the very first print runs of the second issue of the 1988 $10 polymer, released into circulation on October 24, 1988. The Bicentennial $10 is known to exist in no fewer than 11 varieties, and the distinction between the first and second series lies mainly in the varnish. Notes from the January issue carry a thin, smooth finish, while the October issue shows a thicker, mottled varnish. Importantly, notes with 93, 94, or 96 in the third and fourth digits of the serial number were not part of this second run.
Collectors prize these early second-series examples, and this particular note survives in lovely condition.
