The FLIR MR277 is an all-in-one building inspection system that combines a high-resolution infrared imaging sensor, FLIR MSX image technology, and a laser pointer to help you quickly locate, clearly identify, and easily document critical moisture and building envelope issues. It sits at the top of a broader FLIR moisture meter line that ranges from the pocket-portable MR40 moisture pen to full imaging instruments with built-in thermal sensors.
Across the line, these meters are built for moisture remediation, HVAC work, building inspection, restoration, and construction troubleshooting. Imaging models use IGM (Infrared Guided Measurement) to scan large areas for moisture and air leaks and visually guide you to the precise spot that moisture may be hiding, so further pin or pinless testing can be focused where it matters.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois.
FLIR Systems, Inc. was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2021, and the brand now operates as Teledyne FLIR. The instruments in this line were issued under the FLIR Systems name.
The FLIR MR moisture meter line spans a wide range of building inspection needs, from the pocket-portable MR40 moisture pen with flashlight to the all-in-one MR277 imaging system. Models differ primarily in how they sense moisture (pin, pinless, or both), whether they include built-in IGM thermal imaging, and how they connect, store, and report data.
Several models add environmental measurement through a field-replaceable temperature/relative humidity sensor, and most accept FLIR's external moisture probes for intrusive and hard-to-reach measurements. The selection below lets you match the right combination of sensing method, imaging, and connectivity to your application.
Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model that fits your application to see its current availability and details.
Within the family, the MR277 is the most fully featured option: it pairs a 160 x 120 thermal imaging sensor and FLIR MSX with a hygrometer, a laser pointer, an integrated pinless sensor, an included external pin probe, and support for a wide range of optional moisture probes. It stores up to 15,000 radiometric JPG images and can create a single file documenting thermal, visual, MSX, hygrometer, and laser-location data.
Built-in thermal imaging is what separates the imaging models from the rest of the line: the MR160 and MR176 use an 80 x 60 sensor, while the MR277 uses a 160 x 120 sensor. The MR40, MR55, MR59, MR60, and MR77 do not include a thermal imager. Sensing method also varies: the MR40 and MR55 are pin meters, the MR59 is a pinless ball-tip meter, and the MR60, MR77, MR160, MR176, and MR277 offer both pin and pinless measurement.
Other differences shown in the comparison table include material libraries (11 material groups on the MR55, MR60, MR160, MR176, and MR277), environmental sensing (the MR77, MR176, and MR277 calculate Vapor Pressure, RH, Temperature, GPP, and Dew Point), connectivity (Bluetooth on the MR55, MR59, MR77, and MR277), and storage capacity, which ranges from 20 internal points on the MR77 up to 15,000 images on the MR277. The MR77 is unique in adding a built-in IR thermometer.
