Being offered for sale is the vintage/nearly antique ORIGINAL ETCHING signed (looks to in pen/ink or was part of the etching...we can't tell) EUGENE GISE (famous for The New Yorker magazine cover art for the July 3, 1926 & September 11, 1926 issues (see last 2 pictures, shown for reference)), from circa the 1910's or 1920's (as per the seemingly anti-war/anti-nazi/WWI subject matter, wear/patina and maker of the illustration board used), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. We believe this cartoon is depicting a high ranking Nazi (not Hitler, obviously), who used fear of death & suffering to maintain power, being pushed off the earth by an America warship, an industrial pig. Side note: The "A.I.S.C." on the ships's flag stands for "American International Ship-Building Corporation" which was hired shortly after Amerca's entry into WWI to build and operate the largest shipyard in the world on Hog Island, near Philadelphia, PA.. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the lack of biographical information available online, we are unable to guarantee this etching was done by the same Eugene Gise as the famed The New Yorker artist. The signature on The New Yorker covers is completely different than the etching's signature (compare 3rd pic with last 2 pics). Aside from those two covers, we can not find any other works to compare this example with. It seems that the odds that it's another Eugene Gise are pretty low but we felt it necessary to voice our uncertainty. If this etching is indeed by the one and only notable Eugene Gise, then it would also seem that it is extremely rare! In either case, it is undeniably unusual and awesome!!

Good/VG- vintage condition with minor -to- moderate cosmetic blemishes throughout (small stains, scuffs, scratches, dings, worn edges, wavy areas, etc. (see pics)) and two small chunks ripped & missing from right side (just in margin...see red arrows in pictures 4 & 8). See pics.
