Aryna Sabalenka has reached at least the semi-finals of all three Grand Slams so far in 2023, most recently falling in the last four of Wimbledon to Ons Jabeur. Had the Belarusian won that match, she would have been the new world No 1 when the next WTA rankings are released. She won her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2023, seeing off Elena Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to win the final. It was a first slam final for the 24-year-old and she finished it off on her fourth match point.
