With a history of over two hundred years since its creation during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty in China, Tieluohan originates from the cliffs above the Neigu Cave in the Huiyuan Rock of Wuyi Mountain. There are many interesting stories about its name's origin in history, but the most widely spread explanation is that the tea bushes were found in a shape resembling "Arhat," hence the name "Tieluohan" (Iron Arhat).
