The Zuytdorp was a Dutch East India Company (VOC) ship that wrecked off Western Australia’s coast in 1712 while en route to Batavia (now Jakarta). Carrying silver coins, it struck cliffs north of Shark Bay. Survivors likely lived among Indigenous Australians, but no formal rescue occurred. The wreck was rediscovered in the 20th century, revealing its cargo and historical significance. It remains an important site for maritime archaeology and Dutch-Australian history.
