Description:
OKI (OKI DUB AINU BAND) and Jun Sakata (Tokyo Gekko Shamisen) will also participate! The new generation of Tuareg bands has taken "Desert Blues" to the next level! It has been almost 20 years since the beginning of the 21st century, and the genre that has made the greatest strides in world music during that time has been "Desert Blues". The pioneers of the scene, Tinariwen, of course, and the "new generation of desert blues" influenced by them have appeared one after another. Among these, Tami Crest is the one that is attracting the most attention. They have already made several visits to Japan and are already very well known in Japan, and have released their first new album since their last album "Kidal" (Rice INR-7115) in 2017. Tamikrest was formed in 2006 in Kidal, a town in northern Mali. The members are mainly nomads living around the Sahara desert called Tuaregs, and when a struggle broke out in Kidal, the leader and vocalist/lead guitarist Usman Ag Mosa decided to resist with music instead of weapons, and the group was formed. In 2008, she met Chris Eckman, the current owner of Glitterbeat, and made her debut with "Mountain" (Rice INR-887) in 2010, which was produced by Chris while participating in his band's albums. He followed with "Tumastin" (INR-888) in 2011 and "Shatma" (Alterpop) in 2013, and these works, which further developed the sound created by his senior Tinariwen and delivered fresh desert blues with youthfulness and strength, brought him to international attention. In 2005, after the release of "Kidal," Tinariwen made his first visit to Japan, where he made a huge impact on African music fans in Japan. This album, the fifth in the series, retains the "desert blues" format of songs about the conflicts that have afflicted the Tuareg people and their way of life, but also incorporates a global perspective that is unique to these musicians, who have been active on the international scene in recent years. The song "Timtarin" features Moroccan singer Hindi Zahra, and the two singers perform a charming duet.In addition, "Tabsit" is a track recorded during a visit to Japan in 2019, with guest contributions from tonkori player OKI (OKI DUB AINU BAND) and shamisen player Jun Sakata (Tokyo Gekko Shamisen). Here is an unprecedented collaboration of desert blues, Ainu music, and Japanese music. The band has become more cohesive over the course of many tours, and the result is the best ensemble performance to date. This is an important album that heralds a new phase of blues in the desert. Includes Japanese commentary and obi.
